What ability levels are lessons suitable for?

Lessons are available for all ability levels, from complete beginners through to advanced skiers and riders.

Beginners can learn the fundamentals in a supportive environment, while intermediate and advanced guests can refine technique, build confidence on steeper terrain or work on more specialised skills. Private lessons and performance camps are particularly popular for experienced riders looking to progress further.

What types of Ski & Snowboard Lessons are available at The Remarkables?

The Remarkables offers a range of ski and snowboard lessons for different ages and abilities. Options include group lessons, private lessons, kids lessons, performance camps and specialist programmes.

Group lessons are a great way to learn alongside others at a similar level, while private lessons offer more personalised coaching for individuals, families or small groups. For experienced skiers and riders looking to push their skills further, performance camps and specialist programmes focus on advanced technique and freeride progression.

Whether you're stepping onto snow for the first time or refining your turns, there's a lesson to match your goals.

Should I book in advance?

Yes, booking ahead is recommended. Lessons & Packages can be in high demand during weekends and school holidays, so reserving your package or lesson early helps secure your spot.

Please note: Rentals are not available to book in advance and are issued on a first in, first served basis. However, you can save time by purchasing your rental products online in advance, collecting your MyPass card from Guest Services or our Kiosks then head in to see our Rentals team on the mountain who will get you fitted and ready for a fun day on the snow.

What will my kids learn in their ski lesson?

Our kid's lessons cater for all ability levels, so if it's their first time on snow our experienced instructors will help them learn the basics. If your kids already have some experience our team will help them build their ski or snowboarding skills and confidence.

Are my kids too young to ski?

From age 4 and up, kids can join our group ski lessons, and from 6 and up for our group snowboard lessons where they'll start learning the basics with other young shredders. Our team knows how to keep things fun, confidence-building, and age-appropriate whether it's their first time sliding or they're ready to tackle the beginner slopes.

Private lessons are also available. These one-on-one sessions are tailored to your child's pace and needs, perfect for those who learn best with individual attention.

And the best part? Kids aged 5 and under ski free. You can purchase a Child 5 & Under Season Pass from our online store or at Guest Services. We also offer child passes for ages 6+ that work across Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Mt Hutt.

No matter their age or stage, we're here to help your tamariki fall in love with the snow.

How do instructors keep lessons safe?

Our Snowsports team is made up of certified professionals with top-tier training. Every lesson is structured to match your ability, comfort level, and conditions on the day. We start with clear safety briefings, keep group sizes manageable, and focus on steady progression - from first balance to first carve.

You'll also learn the Snow Responsibility Code along the way, so you're not just riding better, but riding with awareness of others on the mountain.
