Snow Report Last Updated: Thu 25 Jun 09:26 AM

OPENING SATURDAY!!

Great news - we are going to open this Saturday!

We're currently in the middle of a cold windy storm which has given us approx 10cms of wind-affected snow, and we've been snowmaking all night. At this stage we will open our Learner's Area (when the storm clears we'll be able to have a better look at where we're at).

Please note the road is snow-covered and closed today.

For guests with lessons or ski bus transport booked over the next two days, the good news is that you're welcome to reschedule your group or private lesson/s and/or Queenstown Ski Bus reservation to Coronet Peak or another date, based on availability.

NB if you're travelling on the Queenstown Ski Bus please rebook onto the 7.30am or 8am departure so you're on snow and at the Group Lesson meeting area by 9.45am.
To reschedule, start with your Ski Bus and then your lesson/s:
  1. Log in to your online account and head to your Profile Page
  2. Select "Overview", then "Order History"
  3. Select the Order Reference number for the booking you'd like to update
  4. Select the calendar icon, then "Reschedule" and follow the prompts to choose a new date or location
Repeat for each booking you need to update.
Your lift passes and any booked rentals stay valid any time this season, nothing further needed there.
Booked over the phone or in person? - reach out to NZSki Reservations at info@nzski.com (subject line "Reschedule Reservation"), or call on 0800 697 547.

Getting Up The Mountain

We know you're all keen to hit the slopes this year so we've got some updates to make it easier for you to get up the mountain.

Maps

Know the Snow Code

Limit your speed in busy areas. Match your speed to surrounding skiers and riders and be prepared for others to make sudden changes in direction or speed.

Stay 5m from others. If less than 5m from others you must slow down. The faster you go the more space you must give others.

Give way to those downhill. Look before you leap. Snowboarders: take care turning onto your heel edge.

Only stop where you can be seen from above. Always look uphill before moving again. Only stop on the edge of trails or beside fixed objects.

Backcountry Advisory

If you decide to go skiing or snowboarding in the backcountry, you need to carry the right safety equipment. Avalanches happen for a reason, so it’s important to choose your terrain wisely. You are welcome to go and see Ski Patrol to get an up to date report on current conditions. Please be aware that our Ski Patrol do not patrol these areas and only venture here in the case of a known emergency. Our Ski Patrol does not manage intentions but please visit the Mountain Safety website for details on requirements to ensure a safe backcountry adventure.

Touring and Backcountry access at The Remarkables.

Alta Turquoise to Alta Lake is the designated safe ski touring route and is the only permitted ski touring route while ski patrol is conducting avalanche control work. Ski touring within the ski area boundary is dangerous and can result in serious injury so please respect all signage and closures. View our Ski Touring information.
