UPDATE 30 AUGUST - THE JUNIOR FRONTIER IS CONFIRMED FOR SATURDAY 31 AUGUST 2024! 

The opening event of the New Zealand Junior Freeride Tour is at The Remarkables, Queenstown from 30 August till 1 September 2024. ​The Remarkables is situated in Queenstown, the extreme sports world capital. It is a long-standing supporter of freeriding and offers some of the top competition venues in the country.

This event is the highest possible sanctioning 3* JFT (below the world championships) and is a huge kickstart to the tour for the winners of each category. 

Event Schedule

​Friday will be inspection day and a possible comp day, Saturday will be a competition day and Sunday is reserved for a weather day. 

Registration

Registration is via the Freeride World Tour website. You must become a Freeride World Tour member and fill out the waivers to enter.

One event license or season license from FWT is needed to compete in over 10 age categories.

Registration for all age categories under 14 and above is via Freeride World Tour on the link above.

Under 10 registration is via New Zealand Junior Freeride Tour.

This does not include the FWT license fee or processing fee needed for all age categories above under 10's.

Under 10 do not need a license

This does not include a lift pass but there are reduced rates for athletes.

​​There is no minimum age, but competitors cannot go up an age category unless there are small numbers and categories need to be mixed. 

There has been a huge increase for the under 10 categories in the past few years and we are more than stoked to coordinate this.

 

Mandatory Equipment:

14 - 17 Category:

Helmet, Back Protection, Backpack, Avalanche Transceiver, Shovel and Probe are mandatory.

Equipment will be checked on comp day and if any piece is missing no competition!

Mouth guard and ABS (Air Bag System) are not mandatory but highly recommended

Under 14 Category:

Helmet, Backpack, Avalanche Transceiver, Shovel, Probe, and Back Protection are all compulsory.

Mouth guard and ABS are not mandatory but highly recommended.

Under 10 Category:

A helmet and backpack are compulsory.
