# The Remarkables > The Remarkables is a ski and snowboard field operated by NZSki, about 45 minutes from central Queenstown in New Zealand's Southern Lakes. It sits on the Kawarau Maunga range and has run as a ski area since 1985. The mountain covers 449 hectares with 26 runs served by four chairlifts and three surface lifts, an open alpine bowl with terrain from gentle learner slopes to black-diamond chutes, four terrain parks, and a strong freeride reputation. In winter it offers skiing and snowboarding for all abilities, lessons and rentals, snow play and sightseeing for non-skiers. It serves first-timers and families, progressing skiers and riders, freeride and park riders, and visitors from New Zealand and Australia. It is one of three NZSki mountains. Prices are in NZD. The winter season runs roughly mid-June to early October. Season passes (the 3 Peak Season Pass and Super Pass) and multi-day passes also cover the other NZSki mountains.
